We understand the concern that a person with cancer might choose to forgo chemo in favor of Ayurveda. But just as there are wannabe gurus selling snake oil, there are irresponsible, unethical physicians, as well as physicians with a shameful incapacity for nuance or empathy. To be clear, we aren’t looking to Goop for scientific rigor (or political consciousness, for that matter). Openness to intuitive measures that might help us avoid or ameliorate chronic despair and disease does not make us flat-earthers.
